Our Mission
Services
At the Center for Communication Excellence we offer both individual and group consultations to help with your communication needs. We have availability for both face-to-face and virtual (via WebEx) appointments. If you need to make a group appointment, only one person has to book the appointment.

Our Team
Dr. Pamela Hopkins
Speech Communication Center Director, graduated from Clemson University with a BA in English and a minor in Communications. She also holds an MA in Speech Communications from Penn State, and a PhD in Technical and Professional Discourse from ECU. Dr. Hopkins teaches both online and face-to-face classes in Public Speaking and Fundamentals of Speech Communication. She is passionate about the importance of verbal communication, and enjoys working with students, faculty members and staff as they improve all aspects of their public speaking and presentation skills.
Ainsley McNeill
Ainsley McNeill is an Assistant Director at the Speech Communication Center. She is a second-semester graduate student at ECU. She is pursuing her Master of Arts in Communication with a Strategic Communication concentration. She graduated in May 2021 from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Psychology. Ainsley hopes to make a difference at ECU by helping students discover their passions through verbal communication. Ainsley believes communication is essential in everyday life and hopes to bring that passion to all ECU students.
Sarah Grace Ramsey
Taylor Angel is an Assistant Director at the Speech Communication Center. She is a first-semester graduate student at ECU, pursuing her Master of Arts in Communication with a Strategic Communication concentration. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Media and Journalism and a minor in Exercise Sports Science in December 2021. Taylor is passionate about helping students at ECU become effective verbal communicators. She hopes that by providing one-on-one virtual coaching, students will become more confident in their personal and professional communication skills, allowing them to thrive in their everyday life as well as their professional careers.
Aleena Sexton
Aleena Sexton is a first semester graduate student pursuing her Master’s in Communication with an emphasis on strategic communication. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2020 with her B.S. in Communication with a focus on organizational communication. During her time there, she tutored in the writing center, and she was a professor’s assistant to communication courses. In 2021, she started her master’s program at California State University of Fullerton and taught basic communication theory as a part of her program. She has recently completed an internship with the external affairs program at The Golden LEAF Foundation. Aleena looks forward to helping students at the Center for Communication Excellence.
